What is ruck-a-buck?

Ruck-a-Buck is the annual rugby 15s tournament hosted by the Atlanta Bucks. Comprised of teams associated with IGR, Ruck-a-Buck is a great way to conclude your fall season!

 

What does my registration cover?

We’re not trying to make money off this tournament, we’re just trying to have fun!

Your registration goes directly to the cost of the tournament. That means it’s helping cover the costs of referees, lunch for the players and volunteers, safe fields to play on, and a plate of Jeffrey’s notorious mac-n-cheese at the post tournament celebration

Unfortunately, due to rising costs, tournament t-shirts are no longer guaranteed as part of registration at this time. We are actively working to secure sponsors to provide these tournament t-shirts free of charge to all tournament participants.

All teams will be invoiced using the email submitted on the form

In order to allow for match times that make it worth your while, this year’s tournament is capped at 8 teams in total - including host team.

Tournament spots are on a first come first come first serve basis.

If your wish to register as an individual please email us directly at ruckabuck@atlantabucksrugby.org. Specific details regarding individual registrations, including cost, will be released after team registration closes on September 15th.

 

Fields

Ruck-a-Buck will be located just outside of Atlanta at the Morgan County Soccer Complex.

The soccer complex is comprised of 3 grass fields, concession stand, and indoor restrooms.

Fields are about 45 minutes outside of the city. For those flying in for the weekend, we recommend looking into car rentals to ease getting around the city and to the fields.

If you need help transporting your team please indicate so in the team information form that will be sent out mid September.

PLEASE NOTE: Morgan County Parks prohibits alcohol and illicit drugs of any kind on the premises. If you are seen with alcohol or illicit drugs you WILL be asked to leave and your registration will NOT be refunded.

 

Lodging - coming soon

We are in negotiations with a hotel in Midtown to get a discounted rate for Ruck-a-Buck, like we did last year. We will update the website as soon as we have more details.

For those wanting to book their own lodging outside of the tournament hotel, we recommend searching in the Midtown, Ansley Park, or Piedmont Heights neighborhoods as it is in close proximity to our tournament host bar The Atlanta Eagle.

Should members of your team wish to inquire about being hosted for the weekend, please have your team representative email ruckabuck@atlantabucksrugby.org to discuss options. Hosting spots are limited if at all available, however, we would like to make this tournament as accessible as possible to individuals wanting to join.

Tournament specifics, including schedule and structure, will be emailed to teams on October 1st once we have final numbers, as structure and match schedule will directly depend on the number of teams registered.

Please advise your players to arrive in Atlanta on Friday, November 7th as first matches are schedule to start at 9 AM on Saturday, November 8th.

Tournament draw will happen at 8:30 PM Friday, November 7th hosted by the Atlanta Eagle. Should you wish to be present we recommend booking your travel accordingly.
